Orthodontics

Proper tooth alignment is not only about smile aesthetics, but also about a functional bite, proper chewing, and reduced strain on the jaw joints.

We monitor jaw development and tooth position in both children and adults. Based on the examination and analysis, we recommend removable or fixed appliances. Removable ones are more common in younger children during jaw development; fixed appliances (“braces”) are used for precise tooth movement and bite correction.

The patient receives an estimate of the treatment goal, how long it will roughly last, and how the appliance is maintained. It is very important for therapy to be followed by regular checkups, because orthodontics is not just “put the appliance on and wait.”

An early orthodontic evaluation (already around age 7–8) helps prevent larger irregularities later. In adults, orthodontics often goes hand in hand with prosthodontics and cosmetic dentistry in order to achieve a harmonious, stable, and healthy smile.
